When The Old Tree Falls
Last year, Pothole Skinny announced work on new material. To an extent that is true. There have been changes to the unit, and currently the activity is a somewhat slow solo project. There are some songs cut, and I am quite excited about the new direction.
In the meantime, The Old Bergen Vault EP Series a collection of over 3 hours of unreleased and live recordings from the ‘Hutton House’ era have been made available as a download by Perhaps Transparent Records. The collection features tracks that were originally released as a podcast through iTunes. After discontinuing the podcast, more tracks were mastered, collected and packaged for a digital download release which includes an accompanying .pdf booklet called “The Old Bergen Chronicle”. The release is now available for a discounted price in the Perhaps Transparent Store.
This summer, Pothole Skinny will be releasing a new full length titled “When The Old Tree Falls”. It will be part of the Perhaps Transparent CDr Series. In the past, PS announced they would no longer release in Compact Disc format, and for the time being all future releases would be download only. This decision was mostly due to environmental reasons. However, this CDr series is a low impact limited release of 100 CDrs. Each release uses 100% recycled packaging. The CDr case artwork uses natural walnut inked handmade stamps, and the CDrs themselves are printed on Maxell’s line of 10% post consumer CDrs. These strides show that we can still have fun releasing music on the CD or CDr formats without being wasteful while still maintaining the tangible artful product that we love to spin. In the meantime, here is a free download of “The King’s Army Comes” a rough mix version of a track from the upcoming album:
